How To Play Off-Man Coverage As A Defensive Back

Coach Victor Rogers teaches us how to properly cover your man when you are a nickel back or safety playing off-man coverage.  The key is for the defensive back to keep everything in front of him, while not allowing for any route to get behind him.

Most defensive backs get hurt while playing off-man coverage because they are overly aggressive on the underneath routes and they do not apply the proper footwork.  In the above video, Coach Vic shows us how he teaches his defensive backs to be effective with this coverage technique!
